Can anyone identify this 1940's folding kayak?

This kayak was bought in Australia in the 1940's and provided a lifetime of  recreation for the owner. I'm keen to find out as much as possible about the history of this model of boat so if you have any information please add it to the comments below.

Thanks, Peter

  2. I bought a kayak that looks very much like this back in 1962 in Germany. It was an East German imitation of a Klepper folding kayak. Needless to say that it was a lot less expensive than the Klepper. It came with a sailing rig and we bought it not for the kayaking but for the sailing. The skin eventually rotted away but the frame is still somewhere in my garage.

  3. This folder could be one of many German or English (or even Aussie) folders from the pre–war years.
My best guess would be a Hammer (http://www.faltbootbasteln.de/fbb-hammer_faltboote.html

But I’d suggest a question to the good folk on the http://foldingkayaks.org/phpBB/ forum.
